PMAN which
is an acronym for Performing Musicians Employers Association Of Nigeria that is
duly registered under the trade union act to regulates the activities of all
musicians and music employers in the Nigerian music industry and to serve as an
intermediary between the association and the representatives of other persons
or bodies engaged in the use of the works of musicians.
When talking
about musicians, we not only limit it to singers alone but all aspect of
musicianship and entertainers ranging from dancers, Master of ceremony(Mc), disk
jokers (dj), producers, instrumentalist, directors, music video coverage, entertainment
managers, arrangers etc in the performance of their duties under a virile,
strong and united body for their mutual benefits.
PMAN’s whose
cardinal function among others is the welfare of every musician to ensuring the
following based on the agreement made with other bodies, individuals or
organizations:
They include:
1.
To determine the negotiations between
the association and the employers of member unit or their representatives.
2.
To establish the machinery for
negotiations between the associations and the representatives of employers of
member units at the national level.
3.
To ensure the equitable observance of
agreements to reach by negotiation.
4.
To protect the creative and
performance right of all member musicians in Nigeria.
These
standard procedures under the PMAN Constitution for Organizing shows by other
bodies, individual or organizations states that for any shows to be organized,
70% of the musicians performing must be members of PMAN Adamawa state Chapter
before any other necessary arrangement be considered, such as negotiation of
payment and security. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE, Failure to adhere to
comply with the terms and condition would leads to SHUTDOWN OF SHOW.
